How HailIndex makes money
Full disclosure of our business model and how commercial relationships are kept separate from data
Revenue model
When a homeowner submits a lead request through HailIndex, we may forward that inquiry to Colorado roofing contractors who have paid to participate in our referral network. Participating contractors pay a per-lead fee. HailIndex does not charge homeowners anything.
Contractors cannot pay to influence cost estimates, city rankings, risk scores, or any data displayed on this site. Paying for the referral network means your contact information may be included in a homeowner's inquiry — nothing more.
HailIndex does not display banner ads, run affiliate links, or participate in performance marketing networks. There are no sponsored results.
Cost estimates are derived entirely from public government data.
The formula inputs — BLS OEWS labor wages, BLS PPI material indices, and NOAA storm records — are published by federal agencies and updated independently of any commercial relationship. No contractor, insurer, or industry association has input into the methodology.
Full methodology documentationWhat this means for you
The cost ranges on this site are derived from public wage and materials data — benchmarks, not quotes from partner contractors. Submitting a lead form doesn't commit you to anything.
All cost data, storm history, and guides are freely accessible without submitting any contact information. The lead form is optional.
Lead information is shared only with roofing contractors in the referral network for the purpose of scheduling an inspection.
